NetTalk v3.20 Gold
Over the past year, we've been developing new features and additions to NetTalk in the Version 3 Beta cycle. We are now pleased to announce a NetTalk v3.20 Gold release. (Development will still continue, but NetTalk has reached a milestone and this is a great place for everyone to upgrade to this latest and greatest release.)

What's New
- SSL support for HTTPS (Secure HTTP), Secure Email, and SLL NetSimple Client.
- Now uses the Asynchronous open as the default behavior for all NetSimple and NetTalk objects.
- Web Server object. This is a very exciting new side to NetTalk that allows your application to have a Web Interface. Thereby allowing your application to be accessible on the Internet or over a LAN. It can serve both static and dynamic pages, which can tap into your Data (for example your Files or Queues). Currently there are two examples: One in NetDemo and the other is a Service (using CapeSoft SelfService) that creates the HTML pages in memory). Documentation for this object should be available soon.
- Windows 2000 fix for NetSimple objects.
- Important improvements to the Email and Web objects.
- Dial-Up Networking fix for Windows XP.
- Improved Global Template, that now includes more Log File options.
- As usual the netdemo.app (example) has also been updated to include the relevant changes.
- Plus numerous improvements, tweaks, optimizations etc.

Upgrading Instructions:
- Download upgrade from: http://www.capesoft.com/nettalkd.htm.
- Note the changes in the Version History, which have this red exclamation mark   These changes could require slight modifications in your application.

DevCon 2004 FeedBack
Attending Devcon 2004 recently in Orlando, Florida, USA has certainly been a real encouragement to us, both as 3rd party suppliers, and also as Clarion programmers.  Much about Clarion 7, and Clarion.Net, has already been written (see free articles at www.clarionmag.com on this) and certainly it appears the future is well taken care of.  Of course, when these products are available, CapeSoft will be there to support them as best we know how. Seeing the commitment of Soft Velocity to the 3rd party community was refreshing.

As official Conference Sponsors we were allocated a commercial slot on Monday evening to show-case some of our wares. This took the form of building an application from scratch, and seeing how much functionality could be added in less than an hour. As powerful as the demonstration was, this process was also extremely valuable - not just because it demonstrated the raw power that Clarion offers - but also because it showed us how much further we still need to go, and how much further we can go, to make the developer-experience easier.

Since our return we've had a number of meetings about taking all the CapeSoft accessories to the next level, in terms of consitancy, ease-of-use, and overall quality.  Between now and the end of the year you'll see a number of releases that have this goal in mind.

The 3 new products we demonstrated at the Devcon were very well received. GPF Reporter was a big hit - as a time saver it's a no brainer. If you haven't checked it out then do so. If it saves you 2 hours a year it pays for itself. It really helps to get you to the cause of a GPF in record time, and is rapidly becoming a big favorite in the office. Take advantage of the current special pricing - it's not going to last much longer.
See http://www.capesoft.com/accessories/GPFRepsp.htm.

HotDates was also a big seller, partly I suspect it was so people could go home saying "I went to Disney World, and bought a Hot Date" <grin>... This is still in the early stages of development, with only 3 or 4 of the controls completed, but already it's gaining momentum as a must-have product.
See http://www.capesoft.com/accessories/hotdatessp.htm.

Thanks to all those who attended, and who we managed to get a chance to talk to. It's great to meet other programmers and swap stories on what everyone is doing. Our accessories sure are turning up in the strangest places!  For those that weren't able to make it, start saving the pennies for next year. It truly is an invaluable experience.
