Last Day of CapeSoft
Amnesty Month

CapeSoft's license policy requires one license per developer. We understand that most developers have more than one machine (your work PC, home PC, and perhaps a laptop or two) - so we don't restrict the number of times you can install our products (for each license purchased) to give you as much flexibility as you need, but those installs are limited to one single developer per license.

November 2006 was CapeSoft Amnesty month to help you come right and purchase the necessary licenses required for developing with Capesoft products. An impressive amount of customers have come clean and purchased the necessary licenses that they required. If you still need to purchase, then don't wait, because 30 November 2006 is the last day that you will be able to purchase these at 50% of the normal purchase price.

Note: This is only for purchasing additional licenses - you must have at least one license for those products that you are purchasing additional licenses for. You're welcome to make the most of the special to purchase new accessories at the same time - but the first license will cost the normal price and from there on the discount will apply.

If you are purchasing additional licenses, then please indicate this in the comments field of the online order form as follows:

50% discount for additional licenses during Amnesty month

WinEvent approaches the 1000 user mark

With currently 960 valid purchases of WinEvent, we're offering an incredible deal for the 1000th copy of WinEvent purchased. If you are the 1000th purchaser of WinEvent, then you will receive your copy of WinEvent free as well as any other CapeSoft product that you purchased at the same time. Tip: Multiple licenses are counted as one purchase - which means you get only one opportunity to be the 1000th purchaser.

WinEvent is packed full of all sorts of functionality that comes in useful in a number of different applications. To find out more about WinEvent:

Some WinEvent features we'd like to highlight (which you might not be aware of):

Make Your Windows Visible on the Desktop

Hands up how many folks have had the "hanging application" support call, when it's simply the window's been moved off screen and saved there? It can take a good chunk of time to figure that one out. WinEvent takes care of this for you - and ensures that your windows will never open off the screen again - simply by adding the WinEvent global extension to your application. (Hint: You'll need at least WinEvent version 3.40 to make use of this feature - if you're on an older version, you can upgrade free of charge).

Close Your Application when Windows Shuts Down

Compiling applications in Clarion, generally means that the application won't shut down when Windows wants to. This means that your program prevents windows from shutting down (unless it's killed). Simply by adding the WinEvent Global extension template, this will ensure that your application closes down gracefully when windows shuts down. Older WinEvent users will need to check this on in the Global Extenstion template after upgrading WinEvent.

Using xFiles

To Create RSS Feeds

xFiles is a product that enables you to create XML files with minimal effort. An RSS file is simply an XML file with some required fields. We've documented how easy this is to create with xFiles here:
http://www.capesoft.com/docs/xfiles/xfiles.htm#Creating_RSS_Feed_Files

To Store Global Settings

Another really useful function of xFiles is storing (and retrieving) Global settings into an XML file. Programmers often use INI files, registry settings, or a table in the dictionary - but using an XML file (using xFiles) is probably the more elegant solution.  To find out how to do this:
